Hey Good Lookin', 

I'm Brandi Black, a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and almond milk cappuccino lover from beautiful Vancouver, BC. 
I've attended both the Institute of Holistic Nutrition and The Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, but I wasn't always all things holistic.

I grew up as a picky eater who either a) wouldn't eat or b) only ate Kraft Dinner and chicken strips with honey mustard. I barely strayed from those two "foods" and was sick ALL the time. I had no idea what kale was, I didn't know humans ate algae and I actually spent most of my grade 11 year sleeping on the couch because my immune system was in such rough shape. Have you experienced something similar? 

Fast forward to my 21st birthday and I came across a book called "Chill Out and Get Healthy" by Aimee Raupp in a Texas Airport. It still remains one of my favourite books today (I read it at least once a year), and it was the book that changed everything for me. I devoured it cover to cover while I was on vacation.

I could not contain my excitement after learning about Traditional Chinese Medicine, the healing power of food and what healthy poop should look like. I was so inspired! Within days, I knew that helping others improve their health naturally was meant for me. A month later I was enrolled at The Canadian School of Natural Nutrition to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (and would later continue on to The Institute of Holistic Nutrition).

Ironically, that was right when I entered my Own "Health from Hell" journey..

Throughout the duration of nutrition school and a couple of years post-grad, I experienced major hormone imbalance, raging detox cystic acne from going off the birth control pill (after having clear skin my entire life), bloating so intense I thought I'd deliver twins after every meal (no matter what I ate), acid reflux and other digestive issues, weight gain around my mid-section, panic anxiety disorder
and perhaps worst of all, I became CRAZY obsessive with my diet. 

Take a peek at the photos below.. can you tell from the inflammation in my face, and the extra weight how imbalanced and stressed my body was?
(PS: I always avoided cameras during acne breakouts or hid under make-up).
I was stressed out about food, weight gain and my health twenty-four-seven
.... and miserable in my body. 


I won't bore you with the rest of the hair-raising details, but what I will say is that one of the main takeaways I received from going through those changes was how important mindset is in addition to diet when it comes to having a healthy body.

Just as food can be healing for hormone balance, 
your mindset is the secret sauce to having the overall health you've been trying to achieve.

Today, through patience, proper nutrition and mindset work, I have healed all of my batshit crazy hormone symptoms naturally.
No more breakouts, back to my high school jeans and the digestive issues are hella long gone.

But best of all, and more importantly, I have a blissful relationship with food and feel unbelievably healthy, comfortable, confident and energized in my body. I work with all of my clients on their mindset just as much as their diets for permanent, positive change.
